FUKT and D (Drunk on Dreams) presents a collaboration in the form of an exhibition and magazine, curated and edited by artists Yane Calovski and Björn Hegardt. The project is realized on invitation by Jan-Philipp Fruehsorge of the Berlin-based gallery Fruehsorge | contemporary drawings, where the exhibition and the magazine will be shown in May 2007.

The exhibition will include works by emerging and established artists exploring possibilities in the medium of drawing, and will research and apply narrative-based, speculative and conceptual scenarios. The show will attempt to experiment with how far the medium can be extended sculpturally, architecturally and linguistically. Drawing will also be observed as a product (an artifact) of a dramatic development taking place in the mind suggesting the possibility of channeling thoughts into images, referencing things known, imagined, read, experienced, forgotten. It is in the realm of the speculative that one may translate concepts onto the page, and off again, arriving at a place where experiment and conjecture happily collide.

The opportunity to publish a joint issue of the two magazines is a critical decision on the part of D and FUKT and demonstrating that collaborations between publication projects are both sustainable and necessary. D magazine and FUKT are publications, which both specialize in showcasing and discussing contemporary drawing practices and related issues, and have been successful in introducing new work onto the ever-evolving international art scene. Both, D and FUKT have proven to be a valuable and important platform for the presentation and discussion of drawing, and are becoming increasingly recognized in the international context.

FUKT and D (Drunk on Dreams) will be presented at the magazine stand at LISTE 07 in Basel from June 12-17, 2007 - www.liste.ch
